One in three adults in the United States has prediabetes.  As many as 80% may not know they have prediabetes.  Prediabetes can progress to type 2 diabetes if left undiagnosed and untreated.  It can be prevented or delayed through a lifestyle change program called the National Diabetes Prevention Program.

  • The National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) is a year-long, evidence-based program to assist in preventing and/or delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes. The program consists of:

    • A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-approved curriculum with lessons, handouts, and other resources to help you make healthy lifestyle changes.

    • A trained lifestyle coach, who helps you learn new skills, encourages you to set and meet goals, and keeps you motivated. Your coach will facilitate discussions and help make the program fun and engaging.

    • A supportive group of participants with similar goals and challenges to share ideas, celebrate successes, and work to overcome obstacles.
